New York Farm Viability Institute

A Strong Future for New York Agriculture

Agriculture Challenges & Opportunities

Challenges & Opportunity Reports

Each year, the New York Farm Viability Institute farmer-board of directors, with input from producers across the state, ranks and prioritizes barriers and opportunities to success in farming, by agricultural sector. In making funding decisions, the board may rank higher proposals that address one or more of the prioritized issues as described in the report 2008 NYFVI Priority Issues for Funding Grant Proposals or the document 2008 Bioenergy Priorities.

Challenges and Opportunities Reports result from Institute-sponsored panel discussions with producers active in their agriculture sector. The producers identify and prioritize barriers and opportunities to successful farming in New York State.

Applicants for grant funding from the New York Farm Viability Institute are encouraged to consult these reports and develop proposals that address issues identified as high priority by producers.
